CHRONICA
a multidisciplinary and interactive experience by Barbara Mydlak (PL) and Yann Deval (FR)

CHRONICA takes the form of both an exhibition and an augmented reality performance that links millennia-old papermaking techniques with contemporary augmented reality technologies to explore the themes of illness and healing processes. Through the trajectory of a memory that the viewer extracts from his or her head, we experience an introspective, tactile and sonic journey.

Project is in writing and prototype development phase.

Duration: from 5 min to 40 min
Installation size: composition and dimensions are adaptable and depend on space, each page is ~ 10 x 15 cm
Format: Augmented reality (AR), visual and sound art installation
Number of users: 1 to 6 users
AR equipment: Hololens 2
*Working prototype with the material installation available on request.

CHRONICA is inspired by the idea of Mydlak's previous work titled Descent/M87, which is the first installation from the 'Mydlak catalogue' series.
Over the last few years, Mydlak has been creating further installations for her catalogue, including: M2020, M2021, M2023, which she develops together with Deval in the interactive project CHRONICA.

CHRONICA takes inspiration from the concept and direction of M87: a diary of longterm sickness, a catalogue of memories of a healing process, with every moment - drop of tears or therapeutic substances leaving a mark on handmade paper page, resembling a 'postcard' that reports the condition of the sender.
CHRONICA gives it a new dimension, shifting the perspective of the spectator to a position of sensory engagement.
